A new book on municipal property rates is currently in the process of publication, and will be a valuable reference guide for anyone needing to get to grips with property rates in South Africa. Ben Espach, one of our directors at Rates Watch, is a co-author of the book together with Lientjie Ackerman and Advocate Anthonie Viviers. All three have extensive knowledge of property valuation, and of the Municipal Property Rates Act and its application in the South African property landscape.
The book unpacks the nuts and bolts of the MPRA, and it will be an essential guide for property owners, estate agents, valuers, lawyers, property administrators, politicians, and officials in all spheres of government. The South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) has already indicated its enthusiasm about the book, saying: “SAPOA regards this book not only to be packed with valuable information, supported by case law, but also gives guidance on uncertain matters. It is an essential asset for every property practitioner.”
The printed format of Practical Guide on Municipal Property Rates will be available in the middle of March and can be ordered by following the link below. We will also include a link on our website for anyone interested in buying the book. We also expect to publish it as an e-book in the near future.
